Beyond Code

A few things outside work that keep me grounded and show up in how I build systems.

The long version

Travel, Mountains & Perspective (Ladakh)

Travel is not a checklist hobby for me — it's how I reset perspective. Riding and traveling through Ladakh pushed me far outside comfort zones: long roads, isolation, physical exhaustion, unpredictable conditions, and complete mental presence.

That experience shaped how I approach challenges:

  • Stay calm under uncertainty
  • Respect limits, but keep pushing them
  • Focus on preparation, not panic

The mountains taught me humility and resilience — lessons that quietly show up in how I work and live.

Gym, Strength & Consistency

The gym is a non-negotiable part of my routine. It's less about aesthetics and more about consistency and control.

Training regularly has taught me:

  • Progress is non-linear, but discipline compounds
  • Showing up matters more than motivation
  • Small improvements, done daily, beat intensity bursts

This mindset strongly influences how I build systems, learn new concepts, and prepare for long-term growth.

Running, Endurance & Mental Toughness

I don't naturally enjoy running — which is exactly why I do it. Long-distance running has become a way to train mental endurance.

It's helped me:

  • Sit with discomfort
  • Build patience
  • Improve focus under fatigue

These qualities carry over directly into debugging, system design, and high-pressure environments.

Writing, Thinking & Clarity

I write to think clearly. Whether it's blogs, notes, or system breakdowns, writing helps me convert messy thoughts into structured understanding.

It's also why I enjoy mentoring and technical discussions — clarity compounds when shared.

Building, Experimenting & Ownership

I like owning things end-to-end — from idea to implementation. Side projects give me freedom to experiment with architecture decisions, trade-offs under constraints, and failure scenarios.

I care about building things that are not just functional, but thoughtfully engineered.

Music, Voice & Confidence

Singing is a new skill I'm intentionally uncomfortable at — and that's the point. Practicing vocals helps with confidence, breath control, and presence.

It balances the analytical side of my work with something creative and expressive.

Curiosity, Identity & Growth

I'm curious about how different cultures approach work and life, why some systems (technical or human) scale better than others, and personal growth beyond titles and compensation.

I care about building a career that supports a high-quality life, not just a strong resume.

Ultra-raw short version

I lift heavy, run long, write to think, build systems for scale, and travel to reset perspective. I enjoy discomfort when it leads to growth — whether that's in the gym, on a mountain road in Ladakh, or deep inside a system design problem.
